Colour Creations Blog Hop Week 7 - Basic Gray

It's Wednesday again and time for another Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team. Week 7 sees us feature one of our very versatile Neutral colours Basic Gray. I did think for a few minutes about trying to do a monochromatic card with Basic Gray, but it goes so nicely with so many of the other Stampin' Up! colours that I decided to use it as one of many colours instead.

As it is nearly time for the new July to Dec Mini Catalogue (that is not really mini) and the next Sale-a-bration I have lots of new stamp sets to inspire you.

When I saw these Hippos in the Sale-a-bration brochure I knew they would be a hit as they are sooooo cute. I have used the not so delicate, but really sweet ballerina Hippo on my Pull Tab Flip Card.

I mounted her in one of the frames from the Fabulous Frames Dies and then mounted this piece on to the pull tab mechanism. I am planning to write my own tutorial using the Fabulous Frame Dies, but in the meantime there are numerous tutorials on the internet.

I stamped another one of the hippos to go inside the pull tab. Both Hippos were stamped in Memento ink and coloured using the Blends Markers listed below.

My second card is the first Christmas card I am sharing with you this season. Most of the products used to make this card are available in the July to Dec Mini Catalogue that begins on the first of July. The stamp set is called Trees For Sale, and as an extra bonus there is a coordinating Die Set as one of the rewards from the upcoming Sale-a-bration promotion.

This time I have paired Basic Gray with a Polished Pink tree. The base layer of the tree is stamped in Polished Pink ink that has been stamped off once for a lighter shade. The second tree image is stamped in full strength Polished Pink ink.

The tree is framed by one of the dies in the Fabulous Frames Dies cut from Silver Foil. The background has been embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder.

The Basic Gray background has been embossed using the really cute Whimsical Wonderland 3D Embossing Folder which is in the July to Dec Mini Catalogue.

The scripty greeting is also included in the Trees For Sale stamp set.
I hope you like my Basic Gray creations, next week we will be featuring Bermuda Bay.

Now it's time to see what my fellow team members have created using Basic Gray. The next stamper along in the Blog Hop is the lovely and very clever Diane Furniss.

If you have any issues following our Blog Hop please head to Cathy Proctor's blog as she is the host of our hops and will have a complete list of tonight's participants.

For today's project I am using the Sale-a-bration reward called the Power of Hope bundle. This bundle includes the Power of Hope stamp set and the Stone 3D embossing folder. This bundle is one of the $180 rewards.

The images have been stamped on Whisper White card stock and coloured with Blends Markers. These are my favourite colouring tool (at the moment), they are especially easy to use if you want to be colouring in whilst watching the tennis! The colours I used are listed below.

The piece with the temple image was cut out using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies from the new Mini Catalogue. I fussy cut the lady and the lanterns with my Stampin' Snips.

The blossoms were cut using the Seasonal Layers dies and were coloured in the centers using a sponge dauber and Blushing Bride ink pad. The branch was also from the Seasonal Layers dies.

The Real Red background was embossed with the Stone 3D embossing folder. This was mounted on to a Basic Black card base.

The next demonstrator to share their Sale-a-bration inspiration with you is the very talented Ros Davidson.
