Home from Stampin' Up! Onstage in Brisbane

What a wonderful three days I have just had with fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators in Brisbane for the Onstage Live Event.

We caught up with old friends, got to see the upcoming Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogues (they are amazing!)and were generally spoilt.

We are not allowed to share and pic of the actual products or catalogues just yet, but here's a photo of myself and my downlines waiting with over 600 other demos for the first session to start on Thursday.

I'll be back soon with more pics.

Art With Heart Designer Series Paper Blog Hop

Art With Heart Designer Series Paper Blog Hop

Today some of the Art with Heart Stampin’ Up! team girls are sharing some wonderful ideas to inspire you with our Designer Series Papers. This month is the start of the new Stampin' Up! year and we have a special promotion on our Designer Series Paper, buy 3 get 1 FREE for the month of October and there is no limit!

I love this years Christmas DSP. The gift below features the Presents and Pinecones DSP from the Holiday catalogue. I have made heaps of these for my up coming marketstalls, as I think they make perfect teachers or coaches presents.

As this paper is part of a range that includes a stamp set and coordinating thinlits, it's super easy to make beautifully designed gifts and cards. If you're not sure of the colours used in the DSP, they are listed on the back of the pack for easy reference.

Here's a photo of the inside of the card and the matching Christmas Pines stamp set.

The following card features my favourite non christmas DSP, Blooms and Bliss. This card was completed at my Girls Day In Pink Day last weekend and was very popular. With 6 double sided designs to choose from these paper packs make planning card classes easy.

The butterfly cut from Blushing Bride Glimmer paper, with Butterfly Basics Thinlits adds a special touch.

I'm the last hop on this blog hop, if you would like to go back to the start click on the following arrow, or the full list of participants is listed below with links to their blogs.

Salted Background Technique

I am back with the instructions for this very easy but effective technique. All you need for this technique is, either watercolour paper or Shimmery White paper from Stampin' Up!,  Cooking salt, A spray bottle containing water, an Aquapainter and  an ink refil, preferably in a fairly dark colour. I have used Night of Navy.
Spray the paper with water from a spray bottle to dampen the paper.  Using the Aqua Painter, pick up a small amount of the Reiner off the plastic lid and apply generously to the paper.
Whilst the paper is still wet sprinkle the salt onto the paper. The amount of salt you use will determine how 'blotchy' your background is when it dries.  Allow to dry completely, use a heat gun to speed the process if necessary, but apply gently so as not the blow the salt off before it is dry.  Once dry, rub the salt off and your background is revealed. I have used the same technique on the background of this card.

The card I have for you uses the Star of Light stamp set and Starlight framelits and a technique called Salted Background. I will have a tutorial here for this technique over the weekend.

Here's a close up of the background and the star, diecut from Stampin Up White Glimmer paper.

Detailed Santa Shaker Instructions

This card was on of my class projects last Saturday and I promised to share the instructions, so here goes.

First cut Whisper White and window sheet to 10cm x 10cm.

Use Detailed Santa thinlit and centre on Whisper White piece, run through Bigshot. I recommend using the precision plate for this.

Apply Thin tip glue pen to the reverse side of the Detailed Santa.

Lay the window sheet over the back of thinlit and hold down with something heavy like a clear block.

Apply foam strips around the outside of the Santa framelit, making sure the are no gaps in the corners.

Use the Emboss Buddy generously around the inside edge of the foam strip to de-sticky the edge of the foam, so that the sequins do not stick to the edges.

Heat emboss the greeting from Greetings From Santa, in white embossing powder.

Place a small pile of sequins on the card front.

Remove the backing from the foam strip and palace the Detailed Santa thinlit and window sheet section over the pile of sequins.

Your card is finished!
