Art With Heart Blog Hop - Fancy Fold Cards

Welcome to another Art with Heart Team blog hop where we are focusing on fancy folds. You will find loads of creative inspiration tonight, showcasing different folding techniques and projects. Don't be afraid of trying some Fancy Fold cards; they may look intimidating, but in fact, they are not that difficult to create.

Fancy Fold cards are always a hit with my customers and class attendees.
I first saw the fold I'm using today on Pinterest, by Ellen Woodbridge. She didn't have a name for this fold so I'm calling it a Vertical Z Fold card.

I did two versions of this card and I love both of them. One masculine and one feminine.

The card base is an A4 sheet cut in half lengthways, which measures 29.8cm X 10.5cm.
This is then scored at 7.4 cm and 14.8 cm on the long side.

The stand on the back of the card measures 10.5cm X 10cm, and is scored at 7.4cm on the short side.

The stand is attached with tape or Tombow glue on the small section of the stand.
It is attached to back of the large section of the card with the base lined up with the 14.8cm score line.

The masculine card features the stamp set High Tide, which is my go to for masculine cards at the moment.

The card base is Soft Sky. The front sand dunes and the small island are Crumb Cake, stamped with the grass stamp on Old Olive and Tranquil Tide.
The lighthouse is stamped in Real Red and Basic Gray on Soft Sky the cut out and mounted on Dimensionals.
All of the waves are stamped in Dapper Denim. The ones in the foreground are stamped on Whisper White then attached before the sand dunes, in the background they are directly on the card base.
The birds are in Smoky Slate and the greeting in Basic Gray.
This greeting is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.
The chair is cut from Wood Textures DSP, with the die from the Seasonal Layers set.

This shows the full length of the card.

The orchid card uses the set Climbing Orchid and the matching dies. You receive a 10% discount if you purchase the stamp set and dies together as a bundle.

There was lots of stamping and die cutting involved in this card, but I love the final effect.
The card base for this card is Thick Whisper White cardstock, with Soft Sky on top.
All of the Soft Sky pieces were stamped with the Watercolour Wash background stamp in Soft Sky.

I then stamped and cut two each of the large and small three piece orchids and an additional two small complete orchids, giving me a total of six orchids. The ink used was Rose Red on So Saffron cardstock. I also stamped and cut two buds. The staimen of the 2 large and 2 small individual piece orchids were stamped in Versamark and embossed in White Embossing powder.
The stems and the greetings were stamped onto the Soft Sky pieces in Early Espresso before the orchids were attached.
Six leaves stamped in Old Olive, on Old Olive complete this card.

  3. Oh Rachel, stunning cards, simply stunning. What a fantastic fold to show case both stamp sets. The High tide is fantastic and I love the way you have the climbing orchid literally climbing up the whole card.
