Art With Heart Team Creative Monthly Showcase - March

For this month's Creative Showcase the Art With Heart Team are featuring Monochromatic cards, that is cards that only use different shades of the same colour. This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the wonderful range of Stampin’ Up! colours across our inks, papers and embellishments that can be combined to produce the amazing monochromatic samples we have to share with you.

I have two cards to show you that both feature the colours Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile together. This is a lovely natural colour combination.

The first card uses the Happy Birthday To You stamp set which is one of the Sale-a-bration reward sets, only available until the end of March, unless sold out sooner.
I have stamped the cake in Versamark on Petal Pink cardstock and embossed in White Emboss powder. I lightly watercoloured the flowers and buds on the cake in Terracotta Tile ink. The leaves are watercoloured in White craft ink. The cake was then cut with the Birthday Dies which are a Coordination Product Release that is also only available until the end of March unless sold out.

I stamped the Celebrate in Terracotta Tile ink on Whisper White cardstock that was then cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. The YOU was White Embossed on Terracotta Tile cardstock and then trimmed. Behind the cake I wound a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. The DSP background is from the Magnolia Lane paper pack.

The second card uses a stamp set from the Annual Catalogue, Varied Vases, which I have been neglecting for a while as I have been distracted by all the amazingness in the Mini Catalogue.
For the background I used the White Embossing Paste and one of the masks from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks pack. Once the paste was dry I sponged Terracotta Tile ink over the top to emphasize the brick texture. The shape behind the vases is cut from the Stitched So Sweetly dies and was then embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.

One vase has been stamped and coloured with a Petal Pink Blends Marker and the other two and the flower have been punch with the Vases Punch from In Colours DSP and Bird Ballad DSP.

The final touch on this card is the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon. The greeting is from the Varied Vases stamp set.

The next demonstrator to share her monochromatic project is the amazingly talented Andrea Sargent.

  1. Wow! Beautiful cards Rachel. Your combination of Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile is great for this monochromatic theme. Your cards have challenged me on a number of counts - I haven't played very much with Terracotta Tile, yet it goes so well with Petal Pink; I have been wanting to play with embossing paste but keep forgetting, yet your use and colouring is so lovely; and I too have forgotten the varied vases bundle - I love your card. I must get it out and create. Thank you for your inspiration. x
