It's time for week 9 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Every week the Art With Heart Team have been featuring on of the fabulous Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. This week we are featuring Basic Gray from the Stampin' Up! Neutrals colour family.
Basic Gray is a colour a I often choose for stamping outlines when I want something a little bit softer than black. As Basic Gray ink is water based it can still be used for outline stamping when colouring with Blends Markers.
For tonight's card I used the Sketched Butterflies Bundle. I stamped the butterflies in Basic Gray on Basic White card stock.
I coloured the butterflies with Petal Pink and Bubble Bath Blends Markers. Colouring with Blends Markers has become my favourite way to colour images.
I cut out the butterflies with the coordinating dies.
The circle hole in the card front was cut with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies. I cut through the DSP and the Petal Pink layer at the same time and then transferred the location of the hole on the card base with a pencil and then cut out with the same die.
The Basic Gray circle around the hole was cut with two of the Stylish Shapes Dies.
For the threads behind the largest butterflies I cut up a strip of Silver and White Sheer Ribbon. I love the silver threads with the Basic Gray tinted wood grain DSP from the Country Woods DSP pack.
I stamped the greeting from the Sketched Butterflies set in Silver Embossing Powder on the inside of the card. I also stamped two sets of the tiny butterflies in Basic Gray on the inside of the card.
One more pic of the inside of the card. Those tiny butterflies are so cute!
Now it's time to see what my stamping friend Kate Morgan has to share with us. Please follow the hop to all of the blogs to see the beautiful Basic Gray inspiration.
If you have any issues with the links in our blog hop please head to Cathy Proctor's blog as she is the wonderful host of our Colour Creation blog hops and has a complete list of tonight's participants. Be sure to hop around and check out all of the other blogs.
Come back next week when we will be featuring Berry Burst in our projects.
Thanks for visiting,
Rachel

Rach, this is such a beautiful card. Basic Gray is a lovely colour to stamp the Sketched Butterflies in, and I just love the pinks you've combined, to colour them in. The circular aperture, to show the embossed sentiment, is a gorgeous detail. I love everything about this!
ReplyDeleteOh Rachel this card is just beautiful and I love the softer effect by stamping in Basic Gray. The colouring of the butterflies is just beautiful as is the embossed sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThis card is beautiful Rachel. I love butterflies as you know but your gorgeous colouring is so pretty. A beautiful colour combination too! Lovely card ❤️
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Rachel. I love the butterflies which you have beautifully coloured with Blends. The soft pinks are fantastic with Basic Gray and the woodgrain papers have been a popular choice this week. The hint of silver from the ribbon adds a lovely touch too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card! I have never liked Petal Pink, but this card made me re-evaluate the color. I like the way it pairs with the woodgrain. I agree about using the Basic Gray as a softer version of black; I often do that too.
ReplyDeleteRachel, your beautiful card really showcases Basic Gray, especially because you've stamped the Sketched Butterflies in Basic Gray, insteads of Basic Black. There are so many gorgeous details to look at and I agree that the butterflies are so cute!
ReplyDeleteGoregous card and I love the peekaboo into the centre of the card.
