Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase week 41 - Rich Razzleberry

Welcome to week 41 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase. Every week our team has been featuring one of the colours in the beautiful Stampin' Up! range, in alphabetical order. This week we are featuring Rich Razzleberry, which is a lovely purple/red colour that is in our Regals colour family.

I have recently seen numerous cards made using the Isopropyl Alcohol and Blends Marker technique, so I thought I would have a try for this showcase. The main tip I have for you is that you need to use a solution that has a very high alcohol percentage, as in almost 100% I bought my bottle from Bunnings in the Paint Accessories department.

The colours I have used for my card are Rich Razzleberry, Rococo Rose and Mint Macaron.

I used the Blends Markers one at a time, alternating with using the alcohol to blend. I started with a piece of Vellum card stock larger than I needed so that I could choose which section of the finished piece I could use on my card.

Once I had finished with the Blends Markers I got my tub of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and a tooth pick splattered small amounts on the Vellum piece. I used the Isopropyl Alcohol to spread out the shimmer paint slightly. This added to the splotchy look of the finished piece.

The butterfly is cut from Champagne Foil paper using one of the Brilliant Wings Dies.
I cut a window in the front Rich Razzleberry piece with a die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, to form a window to mount the patterned piece behind. I embossed this with the Subtle 3D embossing folder to add a bit of texture to my card.

The greeting is from the Borders Abound and is embossed in Silver Embossing Powder. As I didn't have a Mint Macron Ribbon, I used my Mint Macaron Blends Marker to colour a piece of White Seam Binding Ribbon.

  1. Just wow Rachel - what an incredible effect this technique creates! I'm off to Bunnings this weekend so I can give this a try too. Thank you so much for inspiring us all with your Rich Razzleberry creation tonight!

  2. I am in LOVE with the background you created for this card, Rach; those colours are divine! What a beautiful, elegant, card.

  3. An amazing background Rachel. I have tried this technique but didn't get your brilliant results. Thanks for the tip of using almost 100% alcohol. Must give it a try. Love your colour combo. Stunning. xxx

  4. Simply stunning Rachel. Never had any luck with this technique myself. Obviously, I was using the wrong type of isopropyl alcohol. I love the additional of the shimmer paint and your foil butterfly. Ah shimmer paint, another thing I use all the time that is being retired.....and I missed the chance to stock up. So busy helping my group of ladies I missed getting my little order in before it was discontinued.

  5. Oh my goodness, that background is stunning, Rachel and lovely colours too!

  6. Gosh Rachel, your card is totally gorgeous! Such a beautiful colour combo and especially with that technique. The foil butterfly and hand coloured ribbon are a lovely compliment to the cards overall look. Just beautiful!

  7. I adore your background it is fabulous. I love how it is the focus of the card.
