Colour Creations Showcase Week 16 Early Espresso

Hello and welcome to week 16 of the Colour Creations Showcase with the Art With Heart Team. Every week we have been featuring on of the Stampin' Up! colours in our Showcase. For week 16 we are featuring Early Espresso, which is a rich, dark brown that is in our Neutrals Family.

I love Early Espresso as a colour it's so versatile as it can be used with most of our other Stampin' Up! colours. But, I did have a problem deciding how I was going to make Early Espresso the feature of my card.

I love Early Espresso with gold, and so this card evolved.

I used a piece of Brushed Gold Foil for the center of the card. I wanted to have a subtle image of the Dahlia from the Delicate Dahlias stamp set on the Gold Foil. I first inked the Dahlia image in Versamark and the straight into Early Espresso ink. I then stamped this combination straight onto the Gold Foil and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I did the same with the leaves and Old Olive ink.

To give the image a little more colour I used Blends Markers in Calypso Coral and Old Olive.

I mounted the Gold Foil piece on a Stitch Rectangle in Calypso Coral. I wound a piece of Faux Suede Trim around the bottom of the center piece and tied it in a knot.

I die cut a piece of Early Espresso card stock with the Stitched Greenery Dies, so that there is a stitched leaf pattern in the background.

The greeting was heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder and cut out with a die from the Beautiful Trees set.

This card was very hard to photograph due to the Brushed Gold Foil and the embossing but I hope you can see enough of the effect.

  1. Wow Rachel, I would love to see this card in real life as I'm sure the brushed gold looks amazing. So clever how you used versamark ink and clear embossing powder to get the stamped imaged onto the foil.
