Hello stampers, welcome to week 12 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team. This week all of our projects will feature Calypso Coral, which is a lovely warm coral colour, as the name suggests.
This week my projects use the Potted Geranium Bundle. I'm a little late to the party with this bundle as I was trying so hard to resist it, but alas, I couldn't. This is my first play with this bundle and I have made one card that uses mainly the dies and on card that uses mainly the stamps.
These stamps and dies were straight forward to use and did not involve a huge number of small pieces to complete the flowers and leaves. I'm looking forward to using this set with my online classes especially.
The first card uses the dies in this bundle. As we are featuring Calypso Coral I cut one of each of the flower pieces from Calypso Coral. I paired the Calypso Coral flower base with Poppy Parade shading and used a Petal Pink flower base with the Calypso Coral shading piece.
The leaves and stems are cut from Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green. The pots are two of our lovely new In Colours Starry Sky and Orchid Opulence.
The clouds are cut using on of the Basic Borders Dies. These are my absolute favourite dies, I used them so often, either for clouds like this or as a mask that I colour with Blending Brushes. A few Brushed Brass Butterflies finished the card.
For the second card I used mainly the stamps, except for cutting out the outline images of the flowers and leaves. By using the stamps the second card has a lot more detail and texture than the dies alone, but I like both options equally.
The flowers are stamped in Calypso Coral and Petal Pink ink and the leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink. The first image is stamped full strength and the second, smaller image is stamped off once.
The background behind the pot is a Deckled Rectangle that has been embossed with the In The Clouds Embossing Folder. I used a sponge Dauber and Balmy Blue ink to gently highlight the sky parts of the folder as opposed to the clouds. The brick wall below all of the pots is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that has been embossed with the Bricks and Mortar Embossing Folder.
All of the products used to make these cards are available from my online store, the links are listed below.

Calypso Coral was the perfect colour for geraniums - this is the colour I always think of the flowers being. Your cards are both fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBalmy Blue is a lovely colour to team Calypso Coral with, Rachel; such a bright and happy combination. I love your choices of background dies and embossing folder. These are beautiful cards. x
ReplyDeleteI love the fresh pop of colour on both of your cards, Rachel! The paring of Calypso Coral with Poppy Parade and Petal Pink is just perfect for the geraniums.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to showcase the geranium bundle Rachel. I love that you have created the two cards focusing on the dies, then the stamps, and add different backgrounds to both but maintaining the lovely colour scheme.
ReplyDeleteDelightful cards Rachel. I love the way you have created one card with mainly dies and the other with stamps, ink etc - they are both beautiful. I too am trying to resist this bundle - you are making it hard. Xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful set of cards Rachel and love the colours and how you have showcased the flowers and foliage using dies only and stamped images on the other card.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is the die cut geraniums Rachel, mainly for the lovely ‘cloud’ background and the pots in those shades are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love these cards! My favourite has to be the cloud die cut border background. Love the colour combination!
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely cards, Rachel, but I love the softness of the stamped images. A great way to showcase this bundle though, and one that has been on my maybe list too!
