Decorative Trees Sneak Peek

I’m coming to you from Singapore while I soak up a bit of sunshine and get ready to hop on a cruise boat and head home.

I have a sneak peek of a new bundle from the Sept- Dec Mini Catalogue, Decorative Trees Bundle.

There is very little stamping on this card, only the greeting.

To make the three trees I have used different combinations of the dies, card stock and glimmer paper.

From left to right, the first trees has a base of Garden Green, with the swirls cut from the red glimmer paper from the Festive Glimmer pack, available in the up coming catalogue.
The centre tree has a base of Granny Apple Green Glimmer Paper and a die cut top of Garden Green. The third card has a base of Granny Apple Green card stock and the holly die cut layer is Garden Green.

The card front behind the trees is a piece of DSP from the Country Woods DSP pack and the card base is Pecan Pie with  Garden Green mat.

Thanks for visiting, I’m off to explore Singapore a little more, here’s a view of the Marina Bay Sands from our room at the Pan Pacific.

Heart of Christmas week 3 - Pretty Peacock Merriest Trees

It's time for week 3 of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team. Are you warming up to the fact that it's time to think about Christmas? I hope that this week we can inspire you further.

For tonight's card I have used the Merriest Tree stamp set and dies. I actually had this card ready for last week in case my new goodies didn't arrive in time, but they did I saved this card for tonight.

I started with one of the sheets from the Nature's Sweetness DSP pack. The newsprint sheet I chose has splats of gold on it that I thought looked a bit Christmassy.

I cut the 5 pieces of the Christmas tree from the DSP and then shaded the top of each piece with Pretty Peacock ink and a Blending Brush. I adhered each piece of the tree with Dimensionals to give the tree some depth. I embossed the white background and then heat embossed sporadically with gold embossing powder.

I stamped the Pretty Peacock background with the tiny stars in Pretty Peacock ink. This piece and the white embossed background was cut with the Deckled Rectangle Dies.

Now it's time to see what Christmas beauty my stamping buddy Theresa Gerrard has to share with us.

If you have any issues with the links in our blog hop please head to Sharon Davern's blog as she is the wonderful host of our Christmas Blog Hops and has a complete list of tonight's participants.

Unfortunately, or maybe luckily I will not be participating in the blog hops for the next few weeks as I will be cruising home from Singapore. I will return in mid September. I'm hoping to be able to show you some more sneak peaks of the new catalogue, it will depend on my internet connectivity.

Thanks for visiting,
Rachel

Colour Creations Blog Hop week 16 - Calypso Sunset

Hello stamping friends, it's time for week 16 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Every week we have been featuring one of the beautiful Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. This week it's Calypso Coral's time to shine. Calypso Coral is not a colour I use very often so I had a bit of trouble deciding what to make for tonight's blog hop.

I finally decided to use Calypso Coral as part of a very simple sunset card.

I used one of the Stylish Shape Circle dies to cut a mask. I started with Daffodil Delight on the bottom third of the circle with a blending Brush, followed by Calypso Coral and then Poppy Parade across the top of the circle. By fading the edges of each colour together you can get an even variation in colours. I find it useful to dab the excess ink off the brush before blending to avoid getting 'splodges' on your card.

I stamped the tree and the greeting from the Loveliest Tree stamp set in Memento Black ink.

The card mat is Basic Black and the card base is Calypso Coral.

I'm quite happy with how my card turned out using just stamps, ink and paper.
Now it's time for the next blog which belongs to my Art With Heart Team member Amie McIllroy.

If you have any issues with the links in our hop please head to Cathy Proctor's blog as she is the fabulous host of our blog hops and has a complete list of tonight's participants.
For the next three weeks I will be enjoying some R and R on a cruise boat so I will be back on the 11th of September with the Crumb Cake blog hop.

Hopefully my scheduled posts will keep you entertained while I'm gone. I have some more sneak peeks from the new Sept to Dec catalogue to share with you.

See then,
Rachel

Heart of Christmas week 2 - Surfing Santa

Hello stamping friends, we’re back with week 2 of the Heart of Christmas.

This week I am very excited to be sharing a project I made using new products from the Sept to Dec Catalogue. This catalogue is only available to demonstrators at the moment, but it is available to everyone from the 4th of Sept.

To make this card I used the cute new Surfing Santa stamp set. I love this set, I think is much more appropriate for Australian Christmases than snowflakes.

I coloured the image with Blends Markers and then cut out the image with one of the Stylish Shapes dies. The colours I used are listed bellow. To cut out the greeting I used a square from the Stylish Shapes dies and first cut two sides and then re positioned to cut the second two sides, as shown below.

I tore some strips of Coastal Cabana and Summer Splash DSP and layered them randomly on the card front.

For the stitched square that Santa is mounted on I stamped the wave a couple of times and then cut out a third one. I stamped off each wave in Coastal Cabana and then re inked the lower edge of the wave in Coastal Cabana for a two toned wave. Across the top of the stitched square piece I used a Blending Brush to add some Balmy Blue ink as the sky.

Apart from the stamp set, all of the products I used to make this card are listed below. The Surfing Santa set is available from the 4th of Sept.

Now for more Christmas inspiration it's time to see what my wonderful stamping friend Christine Blain has to share with us. Prepare to be amazed!
