Colour Creation Blog Hop 2022-2024 In Colours - Orchid Oasis

Today's post is doing double duty as the Orchid Oasis day on my introduction of the five new In Colours and the first week of the 2022-2023 Colour Creations Blog Hop. Did you notice our new blog header to signify the new year of Colour Creations? Simply beautiful!

As this is an extra special post I have two cards to share with you that showcase Orchid Oasis.

For my first card I have used an Orchid Oasis card base from the Tea Boutique Cards and Envelopes and paired it with the Waves of Inspiration Bundle.

I cut the slightly larger wave from Vellum card stock and the smaller wave from the 2022-2024 In Colour 6" X 6" Glimmer Paper. I layered the waves on the card front with the Glimmer Paper wave on top.

The clouds were cut from Basic White and the sea gulls were cut from Silver Foil.

For my second card I again used the 2022-2024 In Colour Glimmer Paper, this time for the background.
I started by cutting on of the 6" x 6" sheets in half so that I had both light and dark shades on both sheets.

I then cut one of the pieces on random angles with the Stampin Trimmer. These pieces were then attached to an Orchid Oasis card front with equal spaces between them.

In hindsight I think I should have cut the piece so that I could have alternate the light and dark shades across the card, but I had already attached the pieces by then so there they stayed.

The stamped image on my card is one of the robots from the Nuts and Bolts stamp set from the Jan to June catalogue. I coloured this cute little guy with the new Orchid Oasis Blends Markers. To give him a worn and weathered look I used a Colour Lifer Marker to remove some of the ink.

I placed a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock that had been embossed with the Hive 3D embossing folder behind the image.

Orchid Oasis is definitively my favourite new In Colour this year.
Now it's time to see what beautiful Orchid Oasis creations Theresa Gerrard has to share with us.

If you encounter any problems with our blog hop head to the blog of Catherine Proctor, as she is the coordinator of our blogs and will have a complete list of tonight's participants.

I'll be back tomorrow with the final In Colour, Tahitian Tide.

  1. Your cards are fabulous, and I can just imagine how much they shimmer in real life! The choppy background behind the robot looks fantastic!

  2. Orchid Oasis is my favourite of the new colours, and both your cards are fabulous! Love the glimmer paper, especially on the robot card. That one is just so cute!

  3. Great use of the glimmer paper on both of these amazing cards, Rachel. I really love the way you have cut it up for the robot card.

  4. Two very different, delightful, cards that showcase Orchid Oasis beautifully, Rachel. I love how you've used the glimmer paper on both cards. Great colours on your second card; such fun!

  5. Great cards Rachel. Love your use of the glimmer paper. The background on your second card is delightful - I love it with the lighter at the base and darker at the top. Your robot card is gorgeous with the colour combo and textural layers. Xxx

  6. 2 beautiful cards Rachel, I love the glimmer paper with the robot, really make him stand out.

  7. Such great cards Rachel but I especially love the robot card and even though you hadn't intended your background to be that way I think it looks perfect. Until this hop I hadn't noticed the glimmer paper but it's now on my list.

  8. Both lovely card, Rachel, but that Robot is so darn cute. Love the scrappy strip background with the glimmer paper and the Hive TIEF suits it so well, reminds me of the impression of the bolts!

  9. Fabulous cards Rachel and just adore the robot card and the textured layers particularly the angled strips.

  10. Two great cards Rachel. I love how you thought outside the box to use the preprinted card with the wave diecuts but your robot card is my favourite. I love your choice of complementary colour and all the shimmer and shine.

  11. Really great cards Rachel and the glimmer paper is perfect for both of them! So very cute is the robot card and love the pop of colour with the embossed panel behind him. The Waves card is gorgeous and just perfect in this colour!
